Household Chemicals altering Masculinity

Can These Household Chemicals Crush Your Son’s Masculinity?

Elevated levels of two plastic-softening chemicals in pregnant women's urine are linked to less-masculine play behavior by their sons several years later, according to a study published in the International Journal of Andrology. Phthalates, which are used in everything from vinyl floors to plastic tubing and soaps and lotions, are pervasive in the environment and have increasingly become associated with changes in development of the male brain as well as with genital defects, metabolic abnormalities and reduced testosterone in babies and adults.
A team of U.S. and British researchers posed a standard play questionnaire to the parents of 145 preschool-age children. Then they ranked the types of play on a scale from most masculine (such as play fighting or using trucks) to most feminine.
An effect was identified among the sons of women with higher concentrations of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) in their prenatal urine. On average, those boys scored 8 percent further away from the masculine end of the scale than other boys.

Phthalates are one of several groups of chemicals that have the power to disrupt the endocrine system, both in animals and humans. Nicknamed “gender-benders,” these chemicals are causing the males in many species to become feminized.
Are Men Becoming an Endangered Species?

According to a report issued by ChemTrust last year, HALF of all male fish in British lowland rivers have been found to grow eggs in their testes! And that’s just one eye-opening example of the impact these gender bender chemicals are having on our environment.
Their study lists the symptoms found in each of the numerous species tested, which includes testicular cancer, hermaphrodites, genital deformations, low sperm counts, and infertility.
Numerous other studies over the past eight years confirm that similar dangers are posed to human health, and males are particularly at risk.
Decreased sperm motility and concentration, as well as genital abnormalities in baby boys have been linked to these chemicals.
The fact that endocrine disruptors like phthalates affect the reproductive system in nearly all mammals is becoming rather well known, although governments and public health- and safety organizations are slow to respond.
Why Pregnant Women Need to Become More Health Conscious

Two studies published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives in 2003 found that pregnant women who are exposed to phthalates may be at risk of shortened pregnancy. Women who were exposed to the chemicals gave birth more than one week earlier than women who were not exposed to them.
Although it’s not clear exactly how phthalates impact the developing fetus, it’s believed they may play a role in inducing an intrauterine inflammatory process, which is a well-established risk factor for premature birth.
In addition, the more a pregnant woman is exposed to high levels of phthalates, the greater the risk her son will have smaller genitals and incomplete testicular descent, leading to impaired reproductive development. The chemical also appears to make the overall genital tracts of boys slightly more feminine.
It is believed that phthalates have these adverse effects because they reduce testosterone synthesis by interfering with an enzyme needed to produce the male hormone. This raises yet another worry: What if they also alter other biological processes dependent on this hormone? Why wouldn’t they?
This latest study adds to the growing body of evidence showing the harmful effects these chemicals have on males in particular.
Women who had higher concentrations of two types of phthalates (DEHP, and DBP) also had boys who appeared more feminized in their personality, while playing.
The presence of phthalates in the mothers was not associated with any differences in the girls’ play behavior. However, that is NOT an indication that phthalates are “safe” for women.
They also affect women’s endocrine systems and reproductive health although the effects are different between the genders.
The glands of your endocrine system and the hormones they release influence almost every cell, organ, and function of your body. It is instrumental in regulating mood, growth and development, tissue function, metabolism, as well as sexual function and reproductive processes.
One indication that this is an issue for both male and female is that infertility is on the rise. Girls are also reaching puberty earlier than ever before.
Bovine growth hormones used in food production, soy foods, and bisphenol-A (BPA), just to name a few, add to the problem as they also mimic estrogen and disrupt your endocrine system.
Other studies have linked the chemical to thyroid problems in both women and men, and researchers have also suggested a link between phthalates and illnesses like allergies, asthma, and contact dermatitis, all of which are on the rise in children.
Common Sources of Phthalates

Phthalates, or “plasticizers,” are a group of industrial chemicals used to make plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) more flexible and resilient. They’re one of the most pervasive of the endocrine disrupters.
Phthalates are found in, among other things:
  • Processed food packaging
  • Hoses
  • Raincoats
  • Shower curtains
  • Vinyl flooring and wall coverings
  • Lubricant and adhesives
  • Detergents
  • Beauty products like nail polish, hair spray, shampoo, deodorants, and fragrances
  • Toys
Other Gender-Bender Chemicals to Watch Out For

Endocrine disrupting chemicals are everywhere these days and can be difficult to avoid unless you take decisive steps to limit or eliminate them from your immediate surroundings. This is particularly important if you are pregnant, or planning a pregnancy.
Reading labels is a necessity these days. PVC plastics, which contain phthalates, will oftentimes carry the plastic recycling symbol # 3.
Some of the other gender-bender agents to look out for include:
  • Bisphenol A (BPA) -- a common ingredient in many plastics, including those in reusable water bottles and resins lining some food cans and dental sealants, can change the course of fetal development in a way that increases your risk of breast cancer.

Plastic items carrying recycling symbol # 7 is oftentimes indicative of a BPA-containing plastic.
  • Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) -- found in grease- and water-resistant coatings like Teflon and Gore-Tex, is a likely carcinogen.
  • Methoxychlor and Vinclozin-- An insecticide and a fungicide respectively, have been found to cause changes to male mice born for as many as four subsequent generations after the initial exposure.
  • Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) -- Known to be potent endocrine disrupters, these chemicals affect gene expression by turning on or off certain genes, and interfere with the way your glandular system works. They mimic the female hormone estrogen, and have been implicated as one reason behind some marine species switching from male to female.
  • Bovine growth hormones commonly added to commercial dairy have been implicated as a contributor to premature adolescence.
  • Soy products, which are loaded with hormone-like substances.

  • MSG -- A food additive that’s been linked to reduced fertility.
  • Fluoride -- This chemical in the U.S. water supply has been linked to lower fertility rates, hormone disruption and low sperm counts.
For more information about the various health hazards inherent with each of these agents, please click on the individual links above.
How to Minimize Your Exposure to Chemicals That Can Harm Your Unborn Baby

In July 2008, the U.S. Congress finally passed legislation banning six types of phthalates from children’s toys and cosmetics. Legislators in Washington, Vermont and California have also restricted phthalate use in children’s goods, and several major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, Lego, Evenflo and Gerber claim they will phase out phthalate-laden toys voluntarily.
Yet, so many more products contain endocrine disruptors of varying types, it’s far easier to memorize the healthiest options, rather than compiling a never-ending list of items to avoid.
Here are a number of practical techniques you can use to limit your exposure to endocrine disruptors, and other common toxins:
  • As much as possible, buy and eat organic produce and free-range, organic foods to reduce your exposure to pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Rather than eating conventional or farm-raised fish, which are often heavily contaminated with PCBs and mercury, supplement with a high-quality purified fish or krill oil, or eat fish that is wild-caught and lab tested for purity.
  • Eat mostly raw, fresh foods, steering clear of processed, prepackaged foods of all kinds. This way you automatically avoid artificial food additives of all kinds, including dangerous artificial sweeteners, food coloring and MSG.
  • Store your food and beverages in glass rather than plastic, and avoid using plastic wrap.
  • Have your tap water tested and, if contaminants are found, install an appropriate water filter on all your faucets (even those in your shower or bath).
  • Only use natural cleaning products in your home.
  • Switch over to natural brands of toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, antiperspirants and cosmetics. The Environmental Working Group has a great safety guide to help you find personal care products that are free of phthalates and other potentially dangerous chemicals.
  • Avoid using artificial air fresheners, dryer sheets, fabric softeners or other synthetic fragrances.
  • Replace your Teflon pots and pans with ceramic or glass cookware.
  • When redoing your home, look for “green,” toxin-free alternatives in lieu of regular paint and vinyl floor coverings.
  • Replace your vinyl shower curtain with one made of fabric.

HALAL OR NON HALAL?

ONE morning I was listening to the radio in my car, about people wanting to boycott buying chicken because
of the high price increase. Talking about purchasing power and the food we had today, it all boils down to
making choices. This reminds me of a story and it goes like this.

You are stranded in the desert one day, and you have been wandering about, without food and water for 2
days. You are very thirsty and hungry. Suddenly, you hear, PIM POM! PIM POM! PIM POM! A man appears with a push cart selling beverage and food. You ran out to him, with relief and when you came near, you realized he was selling Pork kebab, stewed pork ribs, whisky, beer and vodka. PIM POM! PIM POM! “Pork Kebab, One Hundred Dollars! Whisky Fifty Dollars!” bellowed the
man. PIM POM! PIM POM!

Then you thought, ‘Oh well, it’s ‘Dharurat’ (emergency). I better have some to survive this desert.’ You could afford it because you have lots of money. Then you paid the man and started drinking and
eating with relish because you were very thirsty and very hungry. “Mmm, this IS DELICIOUS” you said to
yourself.

As you are into your third bite of the Pork Kebab, you hear another familiar sound. PIM POM! PIM POM! PIM POM! There comes another man selling his wares. He hollered “Halal Chicken, One Hundred Dollars! Halal Mineral Water Fifty Dollars!”.

Now what would you do? Would you throw away the Pork Kebab that is yummy and
tender? And besides, “I’ve paid One Hundred and Fifty Dollars for this…..no way I’m going to throw this
away?!”

Or would you choose the alternative, the Halal Chicken?

Now, the same dilemma goes for the Muslim Muamalah.Sometimes we eat in an eatery that proclaimed itself
halal, but at the same time serves liquor. We know the food is manufactured by non-Muslim entity but we keep on buying, because it is cheaper. We go to non Islamic bank because the loans are more attractive. As
Muslims, we are given the task by Allah to choose. To solat on time, or solat at the end of time, between
halal or syubhah, good or bad, Islamic or conventional.

Therefore, it is really up to us to make the choice. We have the purchasing power and rights as Muslims.

Let us find strength and the spirit to stand up for our rights.

HERE, I am inviting you to join us a member of HPA, to inculcate the awareness of halal and haram. By using HPA products, you will be part of a team that strives to be Allah's best servants, in the hope of entering Jannah (paradise).

Please allow us to assist you in your ‘Hijrah’.

Bolehkah kita mengangkat kepala kita lagi?

Oleh itu, selalu bercakap benar.
Be happy, be healthy, be wealthy.

Foundation of Good Health Lies in Your Digestive System

A few days ago, in the holy month of Ramadhan, I was purging from 11AM up to after Isyak (the late evening prayer). Every few minutes, I would hurry to the toilet. At times, I did not even make it to the toilet. I lied down in bed, the whole day. Any slightest bowel movement would see me rushing off like a squirrel!

It could have been the food that I had bought the previous night at the bazaar. It was heated and eaten for Sahur (is taken before the beginning of Fajr. Zaid bin Thaabit said, ‘We took the Sahoor with the Prophet. Then he stood for prayer.' Anas asked, ‘What was the interval between the Sahoor and the Adhaan?’ He replied, ‘The interval was sufficient to recite fifty verses of the Qur’aan.’ (saheeh of bukhaari)).

It could be due to unhygienic preparation or bad ingredients. However, as I went on purging, I did not break my fast. Even when I did, I purposely did not want to take any medication to stop the purging. I broke my fast during Maghrib with dates / kurma and took plenty of mineral water.

Why I had not wanted to stop the purging? It is because my body system was trying to cleanse itself of the poison and bacteria that had overtaken my stomach. Stopping it would mean stopping the cleansing process.

A simple herbal tea from HPA did calm down my stomach. If you are purging, do not eat, as eating would add the load to your stomach. Drink plenty of liquid or mineral water, you may add a pinch of edible rock salt to a bottle of 600ml of water.

"In our daily lives, many people experience gastrointestinal discomfort for so long, they eventually adjust to it. Some feel their digestive system’s poor function is normal.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Your foundation of good health lies in proper digestive function. Assimilation of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and essential fatty acids from the foods you eat is essential for you to stay healthy.
If you are unable to digest and absorb crucial nutrients, your overall health will suffer… not just your gastrointestinal system.
In fact, you may not know that the majority of your immune system lies within your intestinal lining. The bottom line… your gastrointestinal tract is your first line of defense against invading pathogens, parasites, and infections." excerpt from Dr. Mercola.

Are You Still Brushing Your Teeth With Flouride Toothpaste?

Many of us have been brought up with the idea that flourides are good for the teeth. It supposedly prevent tooth decay.

Well, research have been done by US doctors. Are you still using flouride based tooth paste?
If you are, do take note of the not so pleasant side effects of flouride:

a) Accumulates in your bones, causing them to be brittle and easily fractured

b) Inactivates some of your enzyme systems

c) Disrupts your immune system, causing it to attack normal working tissues in your body

d) Accelerates your aging process

e) Causes cellular and genetic damage

f) Damages your tooth enamel by hardening the outer surface

The news get worse, when flouride is also added to drinking water in some countries to reduce cavities.. but as a result,

First, fluoride is one of the most toxic substances on earth, on par with arsenic and lead. It has no proven biological use inside the human body (teeth included). There is no minimum daily requirement for fluoride. And second, it is a cumulative poison. Only about half of what we consume is excreted.

The other half collects in the teeth and bones, making them dense, but brittle. Those little white spots visible on the teeth of many children are called dental fluorosis, a condition which not only predisposes them to decay, but also provides a sign that systemic fluoride poisoning is taking place. Dental fluorosis appears to serve as a red flag for future bone fractures as well.

The neurotoxic nature of fluoride is also linked to motor dysfunction, IQ deficits and learning disabilities. In the year 2000, a group of Boston physicians concluded:

"Studies in animals and human populations suggest that fluoride exposure, at levels that are experienced by a significant proportion of the population whose drinking water is fluoridated, may have adverse impacts on the developing brain."

excerpts from www.worldwidehealth.com
Please search for more of these flouride poisons by Google.

TODAY, HPA have provided an alternative. We have for you a HERBAL tooth paste, consisting of Azadirachta indica , Eugenia caryphyllata. This all natural toothpaste do not contain gelatine and Dicalcium Phosphate (animal bone ash).

HPA Herbal Toothpaste will keep your breath fresh, your gum healthier and your teeth shiny and strong. Best of all, it is HALAL.

Treating H1N1

My opinion is to train everyone to boost up their body's immunity. Many have found the cure but have remained quiet about it. Whilst many have also given some sound advice. We could all save the country billions of Ringgit and use them to pay the country's debt instead.

Below are some traditional preparation according to JawiMedHerb to treat the swine flu. However,H1N1 virus is serious and would be advisable to seek a doctor's consultation.

1. IMT - 3 capsules, to be taken at an interval of 2 hours( 3 x 6)
2. Roselle tea - (to drink continuously) - till you finish up a box.
3. Spirulina - to be taken at an interval of 2 hours till you finish a bottle.
4. EQ Minda - to drink till you gain your health.
5. During fever and increasingly feverish, bathe with the leaves of bunga cina.

If you are looking to prevent it from happening to you or your family,
do take Kopi Radix, Roselle kapsul and Spirulina as your daily food and beverage consumption. Do stay away from all the fried stuff and stuffy places.

With love from a Herbalist

Bersedekah

Bersedekahlah. Biar berkurangan di bank dunia tetapi penuh sahamnya di akhirat. InsyaAllah!

Seringkali terdengar di radio ungkapan2 sebegini. Setiap kali mendengar maka terdetik hati ingin bersedekah.

Alhamdullilah. Syukran atas usaha semua yang saling ingat memperingati.

Did I Digress?

Looking at the title of my blog on How to be Happy, Healthy and Wealthy, I seemed to have digressed from the main title of my blog.

Over the span of time, I wrote about being healthy to treating foot pain,to lessons on accupunture and cupping, business coaching and lastly my series on Halal Food and its promotion.

Hmmm..did I really digress? I have hoped that what I wrote were and still are beneficial to those who have read them. My opinion is that everything in our life is interconnected. Being happy leads one to be healthy. Being healthy will enable a person to go on his life's mission..which is to be wealthy in whatever he/she so chooses. It may be wealth of money, or wealth of knowledge or have a wealth of great friends and family.

To maintain one's happiness, the body has got to work hard. The nourishment that it receives play an important role. That is why, taking the right food and the right amount will lead to a happy and healthy body and MIND. For Muslims, we believe in the commandments of the Creator, Allah. Allah commanded us to take in only food which is pure and clean. By obeying the commands of Allah, the body, mind and soul get its nourishment to perform the daily duties efficiently.

HALAL AUTHENTIC CONSUMER PRODUCTS

Halal, Fresh, Organic Chicken
RM19 per bird
Member price : RM15 Also available, fish ball, fish cake, fish burgers, organic mutton and beef

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT FOR A MUSLIM TO STRICTLY CONSUME HALAL?

Consuming Halal is an order of Allah and an essential part of the Islamic faith. Allah has repeatedly emphasised the consumption of Halal in His book. The following are some examples of such verses:
“O Messengers, eat from the pure foods and work righteousness” (Holy Quran 23:51)

“O you who have believed, eat from the pure things which we have provided you” (Holy Quran 2:172)

“O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth (that is) lawful and pure” (Holy Quran 2:168)
“So eat of that (meat) upon which Allah's name has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses” (Holy Quran 6:118)

“And do not eat that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed it is a grave disobedience”. (Holy Quran 6:121)

By being careless about the dietary laws of Islam a believer puts himself in harms way both in this world and the world hereafter. In this world, due to in taking such a product he deprives himself from having any of his good deeds and duas accepted by his creator while in the hereafter he suffers the greatest loss ever imaginable i.e. refusal from being admitted to Paradise . All this is confirmed in the following traditions:

Abu Hurairah RA related,” Allah's Messenger PBUH said: Verily Allah is pure and He accepts only what is pure and indeed Allah has given those orders to the believers, which he has given to the Messengers. He has said, “O Messenger, eat from the pure foods and work righteous”. He -also- has said: “O you who have believed, eat from the pure things which we have provided you.” Then (the Prophet PBUH) made mention of a man who undergoes a lengthy journey in a state that he is dishevelled and dusty. He spreads his hands towards the sky (calling), “O my lord, O my lord”, however his food is Haram, his drink is Haram, his clothes are Haram and he has been nourished with Haram! So how will his call be answered?” (Muslim)

S'ad RA relates: Allah's messenger PBUH said “O S'ad purify your food (and as a result) you will become one who's supplications are accepted. I swear by He in whose hands the soul of Muhammad PBUH lies, verily a servant (of Allah) tosses a Haram morsel in his stomach (due to which) no deed is accepted from him for 40 days” (Tabarani)

Abu Baker RA narrated that Allah's Messenger PBUH said “That body will not enter Paradise which has been nourished with Haram” (Baihaqi)

Ka`b Ibn Ujrah relates that the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said, “a body nourished with Haram will not enter Jannah”. (Tirmidhi)

Jabir RA reported, Allah's Messenger PBUH said, “That flesh will not enter Paradise which has grown from Haram, and all that flesh which has grown from Haram, the fire (of hell) is more worthy of it.” (Ahmed, Darimi, Baihaqi)

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reports that the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said, “a time will come upon the people wherein a man will not bother what he intakes; whether from Halal source or Haram.” (Bukhari)

In our times, it becomes even more important to ensure the meat and poultry consumed is genuinely Halal due to the execessive deceit, cheat and false labelling of Halal in the industry.

Your CHOICE saves million lives

I was promoting my HPA business in a shopping centre last week. The response was good in the sense of sales and sponsoring new business partners. There were four of us working from late morning till 9PM.

Our table was just opposite KFC, across the walking path in the shopping complex. As I sat down to catch my breathe, I observed that there were many families having their dinner in KFC. There were many more fathers and mothers in queue, waiting for their turn to order the food. Sadly, the majority of those customers of KFC are Muslims. They seemed to have forgotten about the sufferers of Palestine and the merciless Zionists. The events that had happenned were much highlighted in the front pages of local and international tabloids. Many marched the streets to protest and some went to Palestine to brave the bulldozers. (search for the videos in YouTube). More people protested by boycotting companies which sent money to the Zionist regime or are allies of the Zionist (the USA is the main example).

You can find among the list, is KFC which originates from USA. Many people argued that the Malaysian KFC is the local franchise which has nothing to contribute to USA and the Zionist. Check again!

Well, last year Radix Fried Chicken (RFC) , the subsidiary company of HPA Industries Sdn Bhd was sent a letter by the KFC of USA, demanding RFC to change its RED signboard and the whole outlet colours. KFC of USA says that RED is its business trade mark. (As if, RED belongs to KFC only!). So, how come the KFC of USA is involved in the business of companies in Malaysia?

The Mission & Vision of HPA

(from my point of view)

HPA is a company, founded by Tn Haji Ismail Ahmad. Its operation began 20 years ago in Perlis, a state in the north of Malaysia. Tn Hj Ismail is a man with great vision, that is to help the ummah. HPA's products grew from one to 500 products today. HPA mission is to provide HALAL and THOYYIB food to Muslims, especially those living in Malaysia.

We have witnessed today the influx of unhealthy food such as dubious halal qualityburgers, chemical laden and sugar loaded soft drinks and fish balls mixed with pork intestines. In the farms, chickens which are given antibiotics are also fed with fattening stocks which is harmful to the pancreas. Worst of all,the chickens are also improperly slaughtered and sold to unsuspecting Muslims. The storage of chicken side by side to non-Halal meat is another matter to be concerned with.

In the aspects of Halal and Thoyyib concept, consumer products must be hygienely prepared and made/ prepared by the hands of the Muslim. This is to ensure that the consumer products are always in accordance to the syariat.

The more we support HPA, by buying from her, the more Halal and Thoyyib products will be available far and wide, safe for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. How do you support HPA? Buy from any HPA branches or kiosks. For more benefits to the family, sign up as a member today. A lifetime membership for RM30 only.

HPA has also set up its own Syariah panel consisting of scholars of the Islamic subjects.

Searching For A Cure

I have come across various types of medicines and healers. Common today are the doctors and the western medicines, whom are trying their best to cure age old illnesses and new pandemics!

Sometimes we go through much trouble in our quest to find a cure. For example, we may be living in Kuala Lumpur, but we travel 8 to 10 hours of journey to the East Coast. Just because, someone said that there could be a solution there. Little do we know, that the cure is right in front of our nose. It could be in our little garden or growing besides the drain.

For those sufferring ghouts, the solution to your pain is PAPAYA or the local language calls it 'betik'. Just look around you, there are many plants which could provide the cure and it could cost you nothing at all!

Much forgotten during our pain and agony is the ever powerful PRAYER. For Allah hears your every little thoughts deep in your heart, as mentioned in Surah Al-Mulk. Coupled with good intentions and much prostrations to Allah the Al-Mighty, you may be served with a cure in the blink of an eye! The cure could come in many forms, believe me.

To experience it yourself, pray with all your sincerity. Learn up from all the kitab. Especially, the Al-Quran, read it and understand it. Everything is inside the Al-Quran. Go slowly, you may find a cure from a heartburn to a heartbreak. InsyaAllah.

PORK MIXTRAD 30 / INSULINE

Pork Mixtrad 30 is a type of Insulin used on diabetic patients. It is sourced from the pig's pancreaes. It is also known as porcine Insulin. Type I diabetic patients will have to use this insulin for their whole life time.

How long should we endure this source of "HARAM" medication? There is a serious need to look for and produce medications from HALAL resources. In critical situations, we are forced to accept insulin to prevent bigger mishaps.

The question today is, has Allah created diseases but not the antidote from Halal resources? The Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. have said with clear indications that Allah does not create antidotes/medications from Haram resources.

Let us start a search to substitue the Pork Mixtrad. One of the known herbs is called 'Daun Bongor'. It can produce 6.6 units of plantisol which has the same chemistry activities as insulin. May this herb be THE choice, one day. InsyaAllah.
