BUSINESS COACHING PROGRAMME

THE year 2008 is ending. So is the year 1429 Hijriah.
What have we done for ourselves and our ummah this year? Have we taken so much for ourselves but forgot about our brothers and sisters out there?

My previous posting on Umm Ryan's article reminded me of our journey to akhirat/akhirah.
Rasullulah S.A.W once asked Aisyah r.a., how much meat did she give away to her friends. She replied that they only have a small portion left. The larger portion have been given away as sadaqah.

My brothers and sisters, you see, the amount you give away for sadaqah or charity IS your deposit for your place in paradise. The balance that you have in your hand does not guarantee you a place as yet. This is because, you would not know yet for what purpose you are spending the money on.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ood radi Allahu anhu said, “Store your wealth where no worms will eat it, where it cannot be reached by thieves. Store it in sadaqah.”

Umm Al-Mu’mineen Aisha radi Allahu anha once met a poor woman who was with her two daughters. Aisha radi Allahu anha gave her three dates. The woman gave each of the daughters one date and took one for herself. She was about to eat the date when one of her daughters expressed the desire to eat her date. She immediately shared the date among her daughters. This kind treatment impressed Aisha radi Allahu anha, and she related the whole incident to RasulAllah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam. After listening to the whole story, RasulAllah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said, "Verily, Allah has assured Paradise for her because of this act or has rescued her from the fire of Hell." Indeed, not only are we giving zakah and sadaqah to cleanse ourselves; we do so in order to protect ourselves from Hellfire. (excerpts from Khutbah.com)

To give away for sadaqah, let us be rich instead of being poor. Let us be the giver instead of the receiver. In today's world, being in control of the economy is important. We need to help our other brothers and sisters who are really in need, especially in the part of the world that we are living.

For the above purpose, Tuhfah Resources will be organising a business coaching programme catering to current business owners or in Malay, we say 'usahawan'.

This programme is only limited to 12 persons only and will be held at my office in Pinggiran Batu Caves, Selangor. Do look out for the date, time and the coaching fee in this blog , soon.

When the Heart Is Weak

Dear readers,
I found this wonderful article which I think is beautiful and ought to be shared with you. The writer is Umm Ryan from UK. Enjoy!

When the heart is weak…

When the heart is weak, we - insaan, tend to choose the easy option when it comes to decision making. We choose the option that is most pleasing to our nafs (our desires) and do not choose the option that would ultimately be more useful and beneficial to our akhirah.
This week, I have been worrying about the future of my children. What would happen to them if I were to die? This painful question led me to mentally list down all the things I would like to have in place before I die. Things that really wouldn’t make a difference in their life, and things that I wouldn’t really care about once in the grave.
Why is it that the majority of our thoughts are connected with the dunya and all that we can obtain? Why is it that our achings and cravings are not linked to our final resting place? And yet we cry and wonder why it is that we don’t ‘feel close to Allah’! How can we when our minds are not filled with His remembrance! There is something very important to think about here. When the heart is weak, the believer’s thoughts are preoccupied with the dunya and as the heart is the vehicle for one’s actions, the believer does not make correct choices or perform the best of actions. When the heart is weak, the muslim forgets that this life is temporary and transient. The muslim whose heart is weak, forgets that the choices he makes in this life WILL have an effect on his place in the next life and also his real happiness in this life.
I’ll give you an example related to the above. A brother on Islam Channel, last night asked the Sheikh if the Islamic Shariah Mortgage is halal or haram. The sheikh immediately asked him to consult his heart and he would find his answer there. The brother was really trying to get an answer from the Sheikh and sounded frustrated at the answers he was being given. The Sheikh ended his question with something that gave me so much food for thought. He said (paraphrasing): “My dear brother, my sincere advice to you is this: You are thinking about stability here and owning a house here for a few years, but you are not thinking about the house you will be living in until the Day of Judgment commences. A house that you will spend a long time living in. Do not think about here, think about there. Stay away from all grey areas and insha’Allah you will succeed. When the heart is weak, we look for this fatwa and this answer. But this is wrong because we are only satisfying ourselves. Increase in your faith and then look into your heart, and you will know your answer.”
It is amazing that when the heart is weak, we seem to forget our very purpose of existence and live in this dunya as if this is our permanent home. Making decisions for here and not dreaming of what we could have ‘there’. Allah Mustan! My question today is, how can we remove ourselves from this ignorant state and strengthen our hearts so that our everyday actions are in line with what is to come? One answer and one answer alone: The remembrance of Allah (Swt). But, and until the next time I write, how can you remember your loved one, if you do not love him and how can you love someone if you do not know him. So, the starting point for anyone trying to increase in their faith and journey to Allah (Swt) is knowing Allah (Swt). For, when the servant knows his Lord, he falls in love and a sweet relationship is cultivated. And of course when a person is in love, what can fill his mind with thoughts other than the one to whom he is in love with?!

Assalammu'alaikum.

WHAT IS TAKAFUL?

From Wikipedia it says : Takaful is an Islamic concept which is grounded in Islamic muamalat (banking transactions), observing the rules and regulations of Islamic law. This concept has been practised in various forms for over 1400 years. It originates from Arabic word Kafalah, which means "guaranteeing each other" or "joint guarantee". In principle, the Takaful system is based on mutual co-operation, responsibility, assurance, protection and assistance between groups of participants. It is a form of mutual insurance.

In Al-Quran it is mentioned in a few ayats as follows:

1. Basis of Co-operation Help one another in al-Birr and in al-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety): but do not help one another in sin and transgression. (Surah Al-Maidah, Verse 2)

Allah will always help His servant for as long as he helps others. (Narrated by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal and Imam Abu Daud)

2. Basis of Responsibility The place of relationships and feelings of people with faith, between each other, is just like the body; when one of its parts is afflicted with pain, then the rest of the body will be affected. (Narrated by Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim)

One true Muslim (Mu’min) and another true Muslim (Mu’min) is just like a building whereby every part in it strengthens the other part. (Narrated by Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim)

3. Basis of Mutual Protection By my life, which is in Allah’s power, nobody will enter Paradise if he does not protect his neighbour who is in distress. (Narrated by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal)

“The basic fundamentals underlying the Takaful concept are very similar to co-operative and mutual principles, to the extent that the co-operative and mutual model is one that is accepted under Islamic Law."

I hope the above sheds light on what Takaful is about. Here, at eTiQa Takaful, it is open to all races and not to Muslims only. The concept here enables the participants themselves to assist each other. In return, participants gets a mudhrabah ( a portion of profit sharing), made from the pool of money invested into Syariah approved counters.

After a certain age, which we call maturity age, the participants will get to withdraw a lump sum of money, inclusive of the dividend sum declared over the years. In between the starting year and maturity period, the participant / next of kin / nominee/ trustee, will receive a covered protection sum in the event the participant suffers from total permanent disability (TPD) or dies. Other form of riders / benefits offered today are hospital allowance, medical card , critical illness claim (over 33 types of listed diseases), etcetera.

Treating foot pain

An 80 year old lady hobbled into my office, with assistance from her elderly daughter and son. She promptly sat down and started pointing to her leg. I checked her pulse and other signs on her hands. Seemed a bit pale and cold, but her heart pace sounds good.

The family told me that she has been suffering from DM (Diabete Militus) for 10 years now. Of late, she has been complaining of foot pain and has not been able to walk properly because of that. I recommended her Teh Herba and Ardisia, to cleanse her body system and also to rejuvenate her nerves system. Looking at her elderly age, I refrained from giving her more herbs and told her family to let me know of her condition in a week. Normally for DM, herbalist would recommend Malac.

As she complained more of her foot pain and her shrinking leg muscles, I suggested reflexology which her family readily agrees. Using Minyak But But (made from a blend of 100 herbs, no birds at all), I slowly massaged over her foot and muscles. As we spoke, I discovered she used to be very active in her younger days. I counselled her on how Allah have given her good health and has enabled her to go for Umrah 3 times. MasyaAllah! I pray that she will be given strength and hope to see her again next week for her next reflexology session.

Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hand with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.

However, for any treatment to be dispensed, one needs to be properly diagnosed.

Article from newspaper interview

“Jangan tunggu sehingga berhenti kerja baru hendak tercari-cari pelanggan.

However, after sometime, it is good to have your own office away from home. You will need some of your own time to focus on what needs to be done. At the same time, if your customers do want to come and pay you a visit, you will avoid some embarrasing moments of having to apologise for your children's mischiefs. (children will always be themselves, no matter how much warning they get!) Times change and we need to make some changes as well. Some we keep, some we discard. Move forward all the time. Look back only to learn from the past.

Unwanted Weight Loss After Childbirth

Breast feeding have been encouraged as a means to give the required nutrients to the new born baby up to two years of age. In the Quran, it is mentioned, a woman has the obligation of breast feeding her children for up to two complete years. Allah says: "Mothers should nurse their children two complete years-- for whosoever desires to complete the nursing term." (Al Baqarah 2:233)

Besides fulfilling the commandments in the Islamic faith, the side benefit is losing some excessive weight for new mothers. However, there are cases where mothers continue to shed more weight even after reaching the ideal point.

There could be a few factors attributing to this weight loss.

1. Internal factors such as problems with piles, kidney malfunction and thyroid.

2. External - the big probablility is due to stress and malnutrition.

In the first case, such problems can be treated over a period of time with consistent intake of liquid and herbs. Patience plays an important role. Smoking and intake of chemical solutions might cause more health side effects later on.

In the second case, the breast feeding mother needs good food supplement. I would suggest taking enough molasses, spirumadu and cereal radix. The mother must also take in enough liquid, i.e minimally 2.5 litres of plain water each day.

Natural Cures Vs Drugs

The old adage, "You are what you eat" holds true.
As the day grows older, we can see the trend of one's food consumption leads to a certain type of illness.

Illnesses come in two ways. It either comes with your gene or through what you eat.
Actually, it is not bacteria that causes one to be sick. When your immunity drops, it makes the environment condusive for bacterias to thrive.

What you need to do is to first cleanse your system of all the toxins that exist in your body due to problems in passing motion.

Take Pelawas 2 capsules, twice daily. It helps to clear your colon. Bit by bit, within 4 to 12 weeks, you will have a good instestine already. As oppose to drugs, herbs work slowly but surely. It cures you of your illness not only the symptoms.

Economy Downturn?

July 2008. Seems like the financial situation is getting from worrying to breaking out into worts!

The subprime issues and the petroleum prices soaring high are making the people in the street like us sweat. We wished that the Government would be more supportive and more generous in handing out subsidies.

We wished that we had more cash in our savings account to be ready for what is coming, a dark outlook or dark financial forecast. Look at how the stocks are doing.

Today, I was forwarded an email advising people to be more prudent in their spendings. Here are some tips, which I think could be applied to some of us:

1. Don't take any loans, buy homes, properties with loans, or even cash. Keep as much cash as possible.

2. Pay off as much of personal loans, private loans, as debt collection will be hastened.

3. Sell any stocks you can even at lower prices.

4. Take money off from Trust Funds.

5. Don't believe in huge sales forecast from customers, be extremely prudent, lowest inventories, reduce liabilities.

6. Don't invest in new capital.

7. If you are selling homes/properties/ cars, do it now , when you can get good prices, they are going to fall.

8. Don't invest in new business proposals.

9. Cancel holiday plans using credit cards.

10. Don't change jobs, as companies will retrenchbased on 'last in, first out'.

However, I remembered being taught in my Economics class ( I was the worst student), that if the people / economy do not spend any money and everyone just kept their money under their pillow or banks.... things would come to a standstill (or something like that). From this lesson, it says to go on spending your money but wisely. No more splurging or fancy buying.

If I had any debts, I would certainly clear off my credit cards first, because that is a killer. Now that there is this new ruling imposed, on certain charges for credit revolvers. Meaning that, if you pay your card on the minimal amount, for every new transaction, you will be charged an interest rate from the day it is posted to the credit card company. No more free 20 interest free days!

However, you can still buy or take up equities or unit trusts at such low prices. According to one expert in Australia, this IS a good time to invest. It is because all the premium stocks are now at a very low price. This will assist you in creating your future wealth.

Another way to create your wealth is to provide your family with financial protection instruments such as from eTiQa Takaful. Let's say down the road, you are only saving RM100 per month with a financial institution. Let's say an accident happens, then you might need to take out your savings to pay your bills. So, what is left? If, you were to take up an eTiQa Takaful policy, be rest assured, it will help you lessen your burden. It pays for your hospitalisation, settle your debts, gives you some pocket allowance and also gives you dividends over your savings. Another good point, zakat is taken care of,too. A RM100 might add on to your wealth, up to RM30,000 to RM50,000 depending on your age.

STRESS LESS

MODERN times, modern stress. Each day is a stress, especially for those living in BIG cities. Globally, everybody have some sort of stress. Those who live well, look radiant, have some secrets to their good health and looks.Perhaps these are some of them:

1. Take life one day at a time
Try to enjoy every moment of living. Appreciate every good things that come your way. When you live in fear of losing something, then you never really live.

2. Remember to keep breathing
Take a deep breath, every half and hour or so. It fills up your lungs and take out some of the stress with it.

3. Be thankful for what you have
Yup, right up to the speck of food that goes into your mouth. Some people fell sick and that's when they realized that every single thing that they are able to do while healthy is actually a blessing. Just like being able to breathe. (No coughs , no phleghms, etc)

4. Love yourself and people around you
When you love yourself, you treat yourself better. It reflects. People see that love radiating from you. In return, people around you love being around you because you share that loving feeling. Give the best that you can, the real value you create can never be diminished

5. Look out for the positve side
Be on the look out for positive things. Even if you had an accident, your car is dented. Look at it positively. If it is not your car, it could have been you. You might now want to repaint you car in your favourite shade!

Things will come and go. It is how you take it, will make every day much less of a stress.
Now, BREATHE!!!!

Heatlh is related to Food

Yesterday, I had the priviledge to visit Dr Zainol. The man responsible for promoting halal and healthy chicken. I was at his shop in Taman Nirwana, Ampang. We chatted over an hour while he was manning his shop. People came into the shop non stop while we were chatting and the phones kept ringing. (His mobile and the shop's telephone)

Despite his busy morning, he managed a great smile and shared some great information on eating healthily. Dr Mohamad Zainol Abdul Haja, 49, is a PhD holder in Economics and only after that obtained his degree in Medicine. He said that the chicken that he rears are real herbal organic kampung chicken.

They are not fed with harmful pellets nor injected with antibiotics which could really be harmful to humans when consumed over a long period of time. Visit http://www.azzain.com/ for more ,information.

I liked talking Dr Zainol as he is passionate about his subject matter. Wished I have the courage to do and go that path in life.

Being Healthy

Good health starts from the mind. A healthy mind is a good breeding ground for good physical and mental health. How do we achieve that? A healthy mind is a sound mind. A sound mind comes from positive mind. duh

What generates a positive mind and how does one stay positive? It all comes with hard work, I can assure you that. Just as you want to stay slim or lose weight, you need discipline in your diet and discipline in carrying out your exercise regime. So is in the case of maintaining a positive mind? What is a positive mind anyway?

My version of a positive mind is to have a bright outlook of things. Everything happens for a purpose. Your refrigerator might take a break, so what do you do? Kick it, scream at it?
I would just be more creative in preparing my food, to last longer, while I have it fixed. If my budget allows me, I'll go for a brand new fridge and better one too (more eco-friendly and energy saving). There comes a good reason to chuck out the old one.
Positive mind is thinking of good outcomes from an event. It takes practise and constant reminders to myself. Yeah, it is really a bold step, to stay cool when the temperature around you rise and rise. When I looked back at my angry outbursts back in my younger years, (i'm not that old yet), I could see that I lose out in more ways than I could gain. I hurt my loved ones and I was sad. It wasn't a win-win situation.

So, how do I stay positive? READ....
Read more self motivation books, share experiences with positive people. Get away from energy suckers. DO...
Do things that I'm happy about. Such as talking, playing (yes, you need to play), hopping, skipping, being cheerful. Be ready to smile.

What comes from being positive then? hey, hey, hey, you got it!
A healthy mind, much reduced stress, less grey hair, better perception to life, friends and families love you more...because you are bubbly!
